The two types of Banana in South Eastern Asia is clearly seen in this photo. The two varieties are simply divided between sweet and non sweet. The yellow banana is more dense, rich in flavour, tasting unlike any other banana. The white is similar to the variety we find most commonly in Europe and the Americas. It is used in rituals as a food offering.
The Banana is a very sacred tree and all parts of the tree are used for some purpose. For example, the trunk of banana is used to erect welcoming gates. It is said that worshiping the tree with flowers, fruit, etc. will help in the welfare of one’s family. Banana symbolizes the unity, companionship and fellowship of mankind.
