I was informed by a well-known English photographer that this is named chedro, but I was then told by a local, “this isn’t chedro” it is named piretto” and you simply cut it and eat it, the rind and all.
The lemon Piretto Spadafora is named for its elongated shape reminiscent of a pear, in Sicilian dialect is also known as pirittu. The skin is bumpy and lumpy and the underlying white part is very thick.
