This is one of those wine gifts you hesitate to open yet your curiosity prevails…. I remember 40 years ago I purchased a rare magnum of 1928 Haut Brion. It was the treasure in my cellar, and I showed it to Friends when they came to visit and had a curiosity. It was well guarded for many years, and purchased directly from the Chateau’s cellars.
I decided to open it for a group of friends and share it an important evening of anticipation and excitement, and when we opened it ….and it was undrinkable and not far away from vinegar. This was a lesson never to guard wines and covet them….they are only as good as they taste!…so if you have a wine you believe is great and its in your possession….open it to see if its a great as you dream and if not its better to discover it sooner than later ….and if its great buy another.
