Is it a coincidence that a stiff, cylindrical military dress hat with a metal plate in front, a short visor, and a plume is named Shako? I guess so but what a coincidence. This ancient species is intriguing and is found in Mediterranean, Gulf of Mexico and Asian waters.
In Louisiana it is used a bait or fried and eaten, in Italy it is cooked or eaten raw or in Japan at a sushi counter.
Above photo was one of our fantastic fish experiences in Italy nearby Venice at Antica Osteria La Cera, a restaurant specializing in seafood. This restaurant was a great experience and should not be missed when in the region! It is very simple, when looks perfect, it is perfect.
