When cities make claims about their tallest structures, it is like men bragging about their towering inferno. Just forget it.
In 1974, the Warsaw radio tower was erected, at 646.38m becoming the tallest structure in the world of its time. It collapsed in 1991 because an error occurred in exchanging the guy-wires.
Today we have one of the finest structures in the world right at our feet, the Skytree Tokyo. It is an amazing tubular tower that twists high into the skyline and “sizes in @ 634m”. With views of the city that dwarfs any view I have seen from any lookout tower.
