The snow pours over us as the wind blows from the surrounding mountains. It is the snowy microclimate if Sapporo that makes white on white. It is astonishing but the roads are not salted and the cars impact the snow making a snow pavement. The day starts sunny but chilly winds blister our lips and cheeks. The hurry of the snow festival is what brings one million visitors over three days. The festival begins as we tower the city view.
