Generic plants and wild vegetables grow wild in fields and mountains of Japan for food, collected growing wild by many. These are some of the edible plants growing wild on the banks and the footpaths in Japan. Sometimes referred to as wild grass to distinguish the ordinary edible wild plants.
The Japanese “Sansai” refers to mountain vegetables that come as the snow melts and spring set in. The ground thaws and the small shoots pop up, grasses sprout, flowers give way, ferns wiggle in the wind giving a chance for those lovers of nature and nature’s treasures.
