Those corny home meals people post, I think of middle America, a frightening thought of processed foods.
This fall we celebrated @ home a meal prepared by my wife with the help of my sister and our resident chef Mitja, a German who acts more Eastern European in a good way. He prepared this festive meal for our household, a first for him.
The highlight was our table top Shawarma machine, a gift from a friend who appreciates the finer things in life. This Eastern Mediterranean meat preparation was chicken marinated with yoghurt, herbs and spices, then placed on the spit and are grilled to perfection, hand cut and served. Make sure to add mixed meats to give it a juicy taste and texture or you’ll find it dry. Oh, a good idea is to add aside some tahini to contrast.
