Tempus 2011- Turkish Wine

Tempus

I couldn’t leave Istanbul without trying Tempus, a Turkish wine made from a variety of grapes, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon,Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

I first saw it on a list (priced expensively) and thought it was a tourist gimmick. But I decided to order it and it was sold out, so we tried the Nexus instead.

Today at lunch in a very chic restaurant named Borsa, we were lucky enough to try it. The 2011 Tempus is a little more stewed fruit than the Nexus but still very good. The wine has good energy, a good backbone and the tannins are well-balanced by the fruit.
