This was the truffle year, an incredible season, and this was my favorite truffle. The red color marks the oak tree, a signal of a form symbioses with the tree’s roots. In Tuber magnatum a calcareous type of soil, where the the role of truffle-associated bacteria in phosphorous nutrition, supporting fruit body development, can be assumed.
