sumi-e black [2014]

IMG_1686A story that starts the year…working with Japanese black ink [sumi-e] and a natural hair brush is often difficult. Monochrome painting is an expression that takes a lifetime to master and many practice the technique daily in search of the “right touch”.

My son is [8] years old {2991 days old} takes a brush to create a story: The mouse on the left side of the drawing was looking at the other mouse with no body (top right side). The Mom who made the mouse (right side bottom corner) is looking for her mouse, but the old man who looks like a bird in profile (also on the right side) stole the Mom and takes her away to be eaten by the Bad Alien (small Alien head) – but the good alien (centered) scares away the bad alien and saves the Mom.
