This is common in Japan, a bento, a box made from wood, a snack box where foods are prepared to be carried by a customer. Bento is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine.
A traditional bento holds such foods such as rice, fish or meat, etc. Containers range from disposable mass-produced to hand crafted lacquerware. Wrapped perfectly by my friend’s wife, the chef fills it with three items: o-shinko/ana-q/shiso/ – all maki sushi – made for an ex-prime minister of Japan – he smiles, I taste it, everyone is happy.
