$1.25/Day @ Laos

In contrast a musk Melon is more than a person’s salary for one month. I took this photo at the market in Loas, this is a construction worker taking a rest under the shade. If you think about it, Laos is a country in transition, enjoying robust economic growth as a result of exposure to global markets. At the same time, more than a third of Laos’s population continues to live below the global poverty line of $1.25 a day in a society where most of the population remains dependent on subsistence agriculture.
