These are oversized local bananas coming from the south of Bhutan. The wild banana grows in Bhutan’s sub-tropical and temperate regions at up to 1,800 metres. There are three varieties harvested.
Although it has never been successfully managed, wild banana grows prolifically on “Tseri” (shifting cultivation) land abandoned after cultivation, openings in forests, and on most terraces. Regeneration is quick and growth is profuse, but somehow these don’t look like wild grown bananas.
I tasted this monster banana and it was very dense so I guess more than one unit of radiation.
