This looks like sushi but it’s candy – pretty cool looking “kappa-maki” rolls and sushi. At Nishiki market in Kyoto most of the 120+ stalls sell just one thing: grilled squid, rice balls, fruits, etc. It’s the perfect place to come to find a snack, or just witness the quality and care with which the Japanese treat even the most ordinary objects in life. After all, that attention to detail is, as much as the food itself, what makes Japan the place it is.
