Finocchio |anise|

The fennel from Chiba in Japan is no less than exceptional and the size is extraordinary. I trimmed it before tackling it and took of the top side which was 30cm long. The aromas are bright and the taste is superb. Chiba Prefecture has a humid season that is subtropical with hot, humid summers and mild, cool winters. The Tsuyu rainy season occurs for approximately 50 days from June to July.

Note: The use stems from the Middle Ages when gay people were burned at the crucifix. It is said that they threw fennel into the fire to mask the smell of burning flesh, for the public to know why he was burned and for the death was slower. /yikes/
