After a long drive through the countryside, we went through a nonchalant town, (another one) and landed at the top of a cliff. Looking down, the stair of the Turks, a rocky white cliff near Porto Empedocle, in southern Sicily catches the attention of many visitors.
The wind is whistling as we take cover from cold winds off the shores. The Scala is certainly impressive and characterized by white color of the marl, a sedimentary rock that shapes the steps and attracts thousands of tourists each year. You can only imagine the history here, the idea that many battles were fought in and around these shores.
