This rare fruit is referred to as “hatsukoi no kaori” and translates as “Scent of First Love”. The fruit was engineered by the Japanese firm Miyoshi Agritech Co. The pineberry is white and covered in red pips and has the same genetic make-up as the common strawberry but with a flavour is closer to that of the pineapple.
