Red Fort Delhi – video

I am not sure what is more exciting, the traffic or the cycle ride to the fort after being dropped off in a nearby parking lot.

Constructed in 1648 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the palace of his fortified capital Shahjahanabad, the Red Fort is named red fort because its red massive enclosing walls of red sandstone. The pollution this morning was intense and interfered with our enjoying the fort as much as we would have liked.

The Red Fort has an area of 100 hectares and is enclosed by two and a half kilometers of defensive walls. The marble and floral decorations and double domes in the fort’s buildings exemplify later Mughal architecture and below you can see the beauty. Now imagine this mogul ruled for nearly 200 years until 1857.
