A white marble tomb built by Shah Jahan emperor during the Mughal empire’s when his favorite of three wives a Persian princess died during the birth of their 14th child. The Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632 and the principal mausoleum completed in 1643/4 and the surrounding buildings and garden were finished later. There are no words to describe the magnitude and beauty of the Taj Mahal (pronounced ma-hail) so enjoy some photos and a few videos from our brief stop over in Agra.

Surrounded by just too many tourists, mostly Indian and we were told that last year 70% of the 4.9 million visitors were Indian, whereas in the past it was 70% foreigners and 30% Indian. Either way the setting gives you the impression of a silhouette, two domes and towers with the mausoleum centered. We passed through the main gates which leads into you into the central garden, and now there is the full view of the Taj Mahal.

The first impression through the archway is when your eyes are glued on the image of the Taj Mahal suspended in the deep blue sky. A glimpse of the mausoleum as we pass into the principle garden and walk up on the left side to avoid the crowds and enjoyed some shade from the sun barreling down.
