Japanese people unlike most people of the western hemisphere enjoy slimy texture in foods. There are multiple foods, vegetables that unless they are fried, can be very sticky and unpleasant. Taro root is most often boiled or stewed which helps reduce the slimness but one way or another you must get used to it.
