A 35 minute walk from Kamakura station you enter the Hōkoku-ji. The temple is not very big and getting there early is a good idea, as many people come to the temple. As you walk through the forest, calmness ensues as the tall bamboo towering overhead sway, and the wind pushes their leaves, as the sunlights rays break through.
It is calming except you’ll find so many kids and teenagers snapping selfie’s which by the way is forbidden. But it doesn’t really matter, the pathway leads you to a tea house where you calm your senses with a fresh a small bowl of green green tea. Contemplation, a zen moment leaves you calmed. The serenity of Hokokuji’s bamboo gardens makes anyone realize the importance of respecting nature.
