On the nose, the wine shows clear signs of age, with brown-toned aromatics. There is a citrus note that gives a somewhat misleading first impression. Beneath this, however, there is fruit present, though it sits under a certain volatility. What I sense on the nose carries through to the palate. The wine remains “racy,” with a surprising tension and energy. As it opens, the fruit becomes more pronounced, revealing greater depth. The finish is long and far more compelling than the nose or the initial impression on the palate would suggest.
