While visiting Casale Monferrato a stop by via Roma’s Ghetto and synagogue is worthwhile. Behind the shops on the west side of Via Roma, which runs southwards from Piazza Mazzini, lay the ghetto which persisted until the emancipation of the Jews in Piedmont following Charles Albert’s concession of a constitution, the Statuto Albertino, under the revolutionary pressures of 1848. Olio di oliva,
500 gr. di patate,
1 uovo,
Sale
2 cucchiai di farina
Pelate e grattugiate o frullate le patate crude e unitele con gli altri ingredienti. Deve risultare un impasto molle che si getta a cucchiaiate nell’olio bollente. Quando sono ben fritte da tutte e due le parti si scolano e si servono ben spolverizzate di zucchero
