Sitting in the winery’s office with Mauro, his son, wife and daughter we sip some incredible classical styled Barolo from 2003 through to the 2008. The Monprivato Ris. is excellent, with a southern exposure to the sun and exclusive to their production. The wines are intense, tight and masculine yet they have a fragility that makes the balanced and elegant. The experience was memorable and the hospitality no less than perfect. Drink these wines and think of the region’s history and style, the way it was in the past.
