Gaja Barbaresco 1971

We shared a father’s wine of Angelo Gaja, a 1971 Barbaresco in perfect condition, yet the cork was glued into the neck of the bottle. I wrestled it for five minutes and then finally gave in and handed it over to the bartender. It was decanted via a masculine cloth and all deposits removed. It was then poured and tasted immediately. This wine has seen better days even though it was still a nice glass of Barbaresco. The wine is light, stewed fruits and yet holding-in somehow. We actually consumed it and it was a nice interlude between wines. (88 Points)
