This is a fruit based bomb with plenty of life. It is full of flashy fruit, young and vibrant.
La Fleur de Bouard is owned by Chateau Angelus, and sits on the plateau of Neac, not far from Pomerol. The terroir is clay and sandy soil with a base of gravel. The 8.5 hectare vineyard, 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the average age of the vines is 25 years old.
The grapes go through a pre-fermentation, cold maceration at 10° C and a 3-4 week maceration in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is performed in a combination of 75% new oak barrels, 15% one year old barrels and 10% takes place in tank. Sur lies aging in French oak barrels for an estimated 20 months. Just 7,000 cases of Bordeaux wine are produced each year.
