I am not sure why they are called bacon, so I looked it up. Bacon Avocados are cultivars from the “B Group” and were developed in 1954 by a farmer named James Bacon.
A green-skinned variety of good quality, the Bacon is a medium-sized fruit available late fall into spring and summer. They look similar to Haas but Bacons are often preferred for three main reasons: creamy interior, flavor in the later season is superior to that of Hass, and thirdly, it is not seen as often.
