I never tried it before, or even heard of this nut. I heard someone describe them as similar to hazelnuts but they are much less fatty, or they taste less fatty. The Baru is a large tree with fruit that matures in September and October, and contains an almond like flavour yet more robust. The oil extracted from the Baru nut is used to flavor local dishes or as a treatment for rheumatism.
