Once and a while I am surprised by a wine and this wine caught me off guard. The wine at first smelled very new world, (it was served blend) and I was afraid it would be over unctuous fruit and heavy-handed.

Just the opposite, the sommelier said it’s a blend shiraz, sauvignon blanc and a small percentage of pinot noir. The 2011 I was told was a cool year, but this wine is nothing short of well-balanced and well structured by fruit, acidity and tannins.
