Drive to Kappabashi in Tokyo where you’ll find shops selling fake foods used by many Japanese vendors to display foods in shop windows. Many passerby’s get excited by the notion of a “look”, the close resemblance between real foods being served. It’s cleaver enough, a sensory reaction to a food that is made from silicon resembling exactly what you can order without stepping inside.
