Meat Porn @ Mykonos

If there was ever meat porn, this is it. Stratos the owner shows me proudly his tattoo over his knuckles on his left hand is KOBE and on his right is tattooed BEEF. I get it, the music is blasting at top levels, I feel like I am in a 1980’s disco, and stratos is blunt and to the point. I get the impression he was a biker once upon a time, he drives a Ducatti.

Stratos with his dream took over from his dad Stavros Drakoulis, who left behind his experience after his sudden death in the year 1987. Stratos took over and the business and the rest is history.

The newest project is a dark black shop, a cow proudly announces his motto over the entrance and he’s sure to tell me, its his deepest passion, or at least one of his deepest passions. I get it, he shows off his galician meat locker, all Spanish and it ages 45 days. Yes the meat walls are Himalayan salt bricks and they glisten behind the sides of beef hanging.

The beef is pulled out and he’s ready to cut my order, three steaks. I cannot help to try the meat and it’s superb. Careful attention must be paid to cutting out the mold, its green and fuzzy and not something you want to ingest. The idea of aging beef does help concentrate the flavours, but the fat gets rancid and should be avoided at all costs.
