Kyoto’s secret Oden is one of the most unique soul food experiences, umami and a distinct depth of taste, stewed and simmered broth, skimmed and served a la carte. I choose shumai, a pork dumpling and not what you would expect.
The experience is second to none, true oden is a not kappo cuisine and most associate it with the classic street version, no different from sushi, but much less popular: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oden
The labor of love, an experience here is considered rare and not too many foreigners have tried it, strictly by introduction and still a difficult reservation given there are only 9 seats at the counter.
