Staying in or near San Sebastian is not complicated but should decide what fits your idea of luxury and comfort. If you wish to eat Atlantic fish stay near Getaria, or if it’s the worlds best steak (heaven steak) try Casa Nicolas Tolosa and stay at Hotel Iriarte. If you want city comfort try Maria Cristina (502) a favorite in San Sebastian and talk with the concierge as she knows her stuff.
But in reality you’ll need some wheels to reach the best culinary experiences, and use Sixt only and you can get to all destinations quite easily including the border of France or a trip to Bordeaux.
