The harvest of Konbu is by hand and as you see above, the tools are primitive yet effective and have developed over thousands of years. Basically the Konbu is dislodged and pulled up from the ocean bed. The tools are simply enough to do the job, no more, no less. The harvest is carefully controlled and the extraction is monitored in order that no damages are made.
