Piggy-Pie Fly-High [gjā’]

Ganja is a term of Sanskrit origin, while some argue the word Ganja is not a Sankrit word, but instead a Dravidian word. Hindi ‘gjā’ hemp, is the cut tops and leaves of unfertilized female hemp plants.

In Bhutan marijuana grows wild and is more common than regular grass. However, virtually no one smokes it, instead it’s given to pigs as an appetizer, while some say it the number one source of feed for pigs.

If you are familiar with the expression “if pigs could fly”, a phrase used to describe how pigs come to their own demise. The folklore is; pigs are tied to their pen nearby a mountain cliff, feeding on marijuana, they eventually roll off the cliff and hang themselves, high as a kite, “pigs fly”.
